Vectornator’s Story
A lifelong journey
In the last months, Vectornator has taken an impressive development.
They implemented a new version, Vectornator X that radically changes how we experience design tools. In fact, their features like Auto Trace were not seen on any other app before. And soon they will introduce a real-time collaboration and a Mac version. Exciting times are ahead for all Vectornator users.
We want to take you back to the beginning and help you understand where the motivation comes from that drives the team around the young founder, Vladimir Danila (19).

The story of Vectornator starts in the room of a 10-year-old child in 2010. Vladimir, born in Romania and raised in Germany, encountered a problem that many designers have experienced before, he was struggling to find a suitable design tool for his illustrations. Most kids would probably have given up soon, lost interest or have asked their parents to buy one.
Young Vladimir was always a little special, so special that he decided to create his own application. With the help of Youtube tutorials and several forum posts, he began to write his first lines of code.
What started off as a hobby, turned into his life journey.
Vladimir realized that not only himself but many designers were looking for a similar tool. An intuitive, easy-to-use, but yet professional design software.
The speed of his venture increased drastically when his first effort was rewarded as he won the German ISEF competition. He used the prize money to hire design nerds and lovers who strive to create the best app they would use themselves.

Vladimir describes the one-millionth download as a memorable step of Vectornator. However, it makes him especially proud that designers from all over the world appreciate his software and love to use Vectornator. Their feedback helps him and the team to create and improve Vectornator every day.
Sometimes it still seems unreal what started off as a hobby project of a kid, became one of the biggest projects in the design industries.
We are excited to see how the story continues.
