Why are Google Illustrations so magical?
Analyzing the magic behind Google’s illustration projects
Google illustrations are magical. There is no doubt about it. Most of the illustrations that I have come across as empty states or content supporting elements are well structured, color coordinated, and have a story behind the metaphors described within the illustration. Although these are critical reasons that should be there behind every product-based illustration, they are not the only ones that make them magical. There are more things that we can learn from these works the purpose of the breakdown here, I have collected five of the most creative Google illustration projects that I found on Behance. Please visit these projects on their respective links to appreciate the designer’s creation.
Google Travel
The project aims at bringing to life all travel verticals that Google has to offer. The illustrations are primarily enhancing the headers and helped Google in unifying the website’s brand identity by using consistent colors and illustration elements.

Background distinguishing
The Google Travel website illustrations were done in a wide landscape and using colors combined with delightful shapes, a difference between background & foreground was created. Also, using simply colors & size of the objects, you can see that proximity of the elements in the canvas was communicated to the consumers.

Responsiveness
In this case, as the illustrations are full-width, they also made background and foreground characters responsive. This means the position and size of the background and foreground characters change based on how big the viewing device is. Characters were placed at a higher prominence when prioritizing the number of elements that should be visible on the smaller mobile display.
