Scolary app- a UI/UX case study
Scolary App is a mobile application concept that intends to solve the problems experienced when researching and selling university books and textbooks. The app offers university students the opportunity to buy, donate, and sell their books using a peer-to-peer app.
The Context
As a university student, I know firsthand that paying for tuition is the biggest financial investment you have to make but unfortunately not the only one, there is also the cost of books!
When conducting the initial research for this study case I found that, according to the Canadian financial consumer agency, undergraduate students spend approximately, $800 to $1,000 per year on books. I think that this is an enormous amount spent on books only.
The price of books is not the only inconvenience here, there is also the issue that comes when searching for university books.
In fact, because of the inexistence of a specialized platform facilitating the acquisition of university books, students are forced to search their books on multiple online platforms or buy them on physical bookstores which more often than not is a complex, expensive, and time-consuming process.
The Problem
University books represent a big investment to us, students, there is no easy and cheap way to buy them and most of the time we won’t reuse them, sold them or donated them once the course we needed them for is done which leads to a lost investment.
Project Brief
Create an interactive mobile application prototype that can solve the problem of searching, donating, or selling university books in a convenient way and at a reasonable price and analyze the UI and UX progress thought iterations all along the design process.
The Design Process
As this project remain a personal project and my first user experience design project I thought important to create a good UX strategy:
