My Apple Music Redesign

TLDR? UI Redesign

I didn’t realise how much I’d written for this piece (this is my first ever completed case study) so if you want to see just the UI redesign solely then please go to my Behance post for this project whilst I’m in the process of finishing up my portfolio & website — https://www.behance.net/gallery/92730569/Apple-Music-Redesign-UI-UX-Case-Study

I would like to start by saying the intent behind this case study is with nothing but reverence for Apple. In fact, my one of my dreams as a designer is to work for a company of such calibre. Also, thanks to Jason Yuan and his incredible Apple Music Case Study for inspiring me to take a leap and dare to do this.

Like Jason, I also applied to Apple as an intern last year. I got rejected too. It’s not their fault though. I was lacking whatever Apple was looking for in my (very amateur) portfolio back then. That’s ok, I wasn’t good enough. And maybe because I don’t have a degree and lack professional experience? That’s why I’ve been applying for internships. Regardless, I had to get better. I saw this as an opportunity to take the initiative in learning UX research and UI design beyond surface level. I had to teach myself whatever a company would be looking for and demonstrate it, which is what I’m going to try and do here.

Using the brain to fix problems through psychology, the heart to empathise with users and their problems and my soul which lives for design sealed the deal. It’s the trifecta that made me realise long ago that UI/UX is my path.
So, I decided to get good enough for my dreams. Despite my circumstances, I did what I had to do. The result is this piece.

Aside from UI/UX being a dream career, to see further motivations behind why I did this case study, please read until the end. I didn’t want to start this piece explaining the adversity of my circumstances. I want my work on this to be the focal point, not my struggles. If you do go to the end and read it, I am truly thankful. With all my heart, thank you.

Inception

Last summer, I clocked out of work and was trying to think of ideas for a case study to use as the basis for learning UI/UX myself. What I was looking for was right…
