If you are new to AR displays I would recommend you to read these articles to know more AR displays: Understanding display techniques in Augmented Reality and Variables that affect the experience in AR

1. Introduction

We all have become accustomed to high-resolution/density displays in our daily life (phones screens, monitors and the list goes on). Which means the display standards have come a long way and we know what is best for our eyes, spotting low-resolution content annoys us easily. But in case of AR/VR headsets, these high-standards for displays are proving to be a major hurdle because of the amount of computing power required to transmit this data to our headset is immense. For which either the form factor has to be compromised, meaning bulky headsets or the use of additional compute packs linked to the headsets like in case of Magic Leap.

This has directed researchers to find alternative solutions to the underlying problem and I’m going to share some of them in this article. If you are not a fan of long-form reading then you can quickly skim through and watch the videos.
