Over the past few years, design and prototyping tools have become cheaper and much simpler to use. Today, it’s easy to convert your ideas into tangible things that people can interact with. As a result, there’s an explosion in interest about how to learn to do this yourself. Having a bias for prototyping can improve your life in profound ways. Not only in technology & design, but anywhere you need people to understand your idea. It’s much easier to show people what you’re thinking instead of using words.
So where do you get started? This article contains a curated list of design resources that I have found useful. There’s a ton of awesome material here on Medium and elsewhere on the internet in general. I will be adding more to this list as I discover new material. These should get you up and running pretty quickly. Where you take it from here is entirely up to you.
Design Tools
Sketch : Mac Only
The most versatile and simple to use design software on the market today. It’s industry standard and used in some of the largest companies in the world. One of the best features of Sketch is Plugins. These are third party extensions that improve your workflow for things like Auto Layout, Image Quality/Choice etc. Some great ones include Unsplash, Content Generator & Magic Mirror.
