A chat with AI about UI/UX design
What will be our professional future as a designer together with artificial intelligence? Should we fear that one day we will be replaced by a machine? I asked ChatGPT what he thinks!

In 2022, two groundbreaking technologies were introduced to our world: Midjourney, an AI program that generates images from prompts, and ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot that answers all your questions.
Artificial intelligence is entering our personal and business lives in an exciting but somewhat frightening way, causing us to change our view of things. Some are reluctant and wary of this new technology, while others are fascinated by it and embrace it fully. I’m closer to the second group of people, those who see enormous potential in embracing artificial intelligence in our work and our lives in general.
Artificial intelligence will be able to pave the way for new skills and processes that we do not yet know and lead us towards an unprecedented revolution. This process is not said to be totally good and painless, but everything will depend on how we decide to develop it.
Now we come to the heart of this article. By now we all know ChatGPT, the project conceived by OpenAI, the startup founded by Sam Altman and Elon Musk in 2015, which is capable of responding to your every request by simulating a human conversation.
I thought of asking it some questions about the profession of UI/UX designer, starting from simple questions on training and skills, to then get to discuss more thorny issues regarding the relationship between AI and designers.
Let’s see what came of it!
The characteristics of a UX/UI designer
Let’s start with an easy question, namely: what are the characteristics that a UI/UX designer must have? ChatGPT responds adequately with a list of skills that a professional in the sector must possess. The answer is not too elaborate, but I would say satisfactory.
