5 Practices That Will Help You Become a Senior Designer

I was still a junior designer when some of my classmates moved on to more senior roles. So I started to think about what had made the difference.

My friend had an interesting theory about it.

I sit face to face with a female friend. She says: “I think the career level is related to how we look. Maybe having a baby face makes us less trustworthy. That makes it harder to prove our ability.” I say: “oh… I hope not….”

However, it might not be just about the appearance. But then we asked ourselves, “Is there anything I could do to impact my career progression?”

The answer is ‘yes’! You can still affect how your job role advances by developing a growth mindset.

A “growth mindset,” on the other hand, thrives on challenge and sees failure not as evidence of unintelligence but as a heartening springboard for growth and for stretching our existing abilities.

If you are continuously breezing through work without reflecting and deep thinking, you will soon find yourself stuck on repeat. As a result, even after ten years, you might have done the same thing over and over again for the most part.

When trying to advance your career. Picture 1: A person without a growth mindset walking on a flat surface and feel confused. Picture 2: A person with a growth mindset is climbing up on stairs and sweating.
Two types of designers behave differently when trying to advance their careers
